Dataset description
The data set contains forest areas (1 ha) and individual objects with a special gene conservation function in the Free State of Saxony. Genetic conservation objects (individuals, groups, stocks) are used to preserve the biodiversity of trees and shrubs as well as genetic diversity within tree and shrub species. They preserve biodiversity at species and population level and form the basis for further conservation and support measures. Features for the designation of gene conservation objects are among other autochthony or adapted to the location, adaptability, representativeness as well as rarity and degree of risk. The data is used for the forest function map 1:25,000 of Saxony. Further information can be found in the brochure on forest function mapping published by the state enterprise Sachsenforst.
