Dataset description
The data set contains the memorial and excavation conservation areas, archaeological reserves and cultural monuments according to the Saxon Monument Protection Act (SächsDSchG) (1 ha) as well as individual objects in the Free State of Saxony. Protected areas serve the protection and conservation of areas of certain structural characteristics. The environment of these areas shall be included in the protection, as far as the appearance is significant. Excavation protected areas serve to preserve in the soil of existing cultural monuments. Archaeological reserves are special excavation reserves in which there is a particular overarching scientific interest. Cultural monuments are man-made objects, material populations, parts and traces of objects, including their natural foundations, whose preservation lies in the public interest because of their historical, artistic, scientific, urban or landscape-building importance. The data is used for the forest function map 1:25,000 of Saxony. Further information can be found in the brochure on forest function mapping published by the state enterprise Sachsenforst.
