Dataset description

The state of vitality of the forest is recorded annually as part of the Forest State Survey (WZE). The crown state serves as a wiser for the vitality of forest trees. The WZE has been carried out in the old federal states since 1984 and in the new federal states since 1990. Since 01.01.2014 it has been carried out on the basis of the Federal Ordinance ForUmV, which is enshrined in the Federal Forest Act (§41a para. 6BWaldG). The nationwide survey takes place in July and August on a systematic 16 km x 16 km sample network (Level I network) on approximately 10,000 trees and provides representative results for the most important tree species at federal level.
