Dataset description

The scientifically based soil mapping (soil inventory) with the publication of soil maps is the most important basis for soil use, soil protection and soil research. This is an area data of soil estimation interpreted in terms of soil history for the distribution and characteristics of the soil (agricultural land only). The agricultural soil estimation was carried out from 1934 (according to the Soil Estimation Act of 16 October 1934) according to scientific and practical knowledge, separately for arables and grassland. The basis is the determination of the soil species in the terrain, which for arables is divided into nine groups, for grassland into five groups. According to a uniform estimation framework, the soil was identified according to its nature on the basis of soil scientific criteria and an assessment of the yield according to a net yield ratio for each agricultural land area in Germany. The ground map 1: On the basis of the soil estimate, 5 000 is available almost nationwide for the agricultural land of North Rhine-Westphalia. The map sheets contain information on the yield strength of the land (value of soil estimation) as well as data on soil type and geological base rock. The map works are not based on any land works of the GD NRW, but it is mainly the ground-based interpretation of the Reichsboden estimation. These large-scale ground maps are usually distributed as a plot based on the floor plan or standard edition of the DGK 5 via the district government Cologne/Abt. 7 Geobasis NRW as well as the surveying and cadastral offices of the municipal and district administrations.
