Dataset description

The data sets represent the open spaces in the forest created between October 2017 and September 2020 as a result of storm damage, snowfall and bark beetle infestation, as well as forest damage areas with unanimated bark beetle infestation at the advanced infestation stage. The damage and open spaces are the result of a semi-automated satellite image evaluation carried out using Sentinel-2 data. These are results from the “Sentinel-2 project” initiated by the Competence Center for Forestry and Forestry (Sachsenforst). The aim of this project was to localise the harmful and open spaces created between autumn 2017 and autumn 2020 in the entire Saxon forest.
