Dataset description

The INSPIRE View Service represents the humus content classes in the upper soil as well as the carbon reserves in 0.3 m, 1 m and 2 m below ground surface in the state of Brandenburg. The content presented was for scale 1: 300,000 created and are larger for representations in scales 1: 100,000 are not suitable. The representation is based on the legend units of the soil overview map with corresponding assignment of parameterised surface soil shapes. These represent a soil form society for each legend unit. Humus: The individual (area) soil shapes were used with parameters, including the corresponding humus content determined by ground and laboratory tests. The same horizontal-substrate combinations were summarised and the corresponding parameters (such as humus contents) were statistically derived (usually the median value). The humus content of the horizontal-substrate combinations of surface soil forms was classified according to the Soil Clinical Carting Instructions, 5th edition, Hannover 2005, Tab. 15. Due to the dominance of agricultural land in Brandenburg, the humus classification for agricultural use was applied nationwide. The service represents the classified values for the upper floor. These are usually the values of the top mineral or bog floor horizon. At different values for the surface soil shapes of the respective legend unit, humus content classes were averaged weighted. Carbon: The individual (area) soil shapes were used with parameters, including the corresponding Corg levels determined by off-road and laboratory tests. The same horizontal-substrate combinations were summarised and the corresponding parameters (such as Corg levels) were statistically derived (usually the median value). The sequence of horizontal-substrate combinations of the surface soil shapes with their Corg contents forms the basis for the volume calculation in t/ha. These were classified in nine stages of 30 t/ha each.
