Hydrogeological profile types of deeper tertiary water conductors

The map shows the distribution areas of predominant hydrogeological profile types. In generalised form, they are typical sequences of various aquifers and their separation layers. Viewing planes are the loose rocks of the quaternary (ice-age sediments) and the young tertiary up to the base of the miocene lignite sands. Adjoining deeper horizons do not contain any other water conductors from a water management point of view and thus form the basis of the hanging water conductors. Consistent width ratios in the profile type representations actually vary greatly. For example, the lignite sands in the lowering zones between the salt structures often form the most powerful water conductor complex, while in the area of salt structures old-tertiary and older layers extend to near-surface areas.
