Inspire Downloaddienst Natura2000 NRW

The service represents the Natura 2000 areas of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The Natura 2000 sites network is designed to preserve and restore biodiversity in the European Union, together with the species protection provisions of both Directives. This refers to the conservation and restoration of a “favourable conservation status of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora of Community interest” (FFH Directive). The Birds Directive also calls for the restoration and re-creation of places of life. The FFH sites designated for the Natura 2000 European Protected Area Network are, for the most part, also designated as nature reserves.
