Dataset description

The interoperable INSPIRE representation service (WMS) Soil (derived from the original dataset: Bog map of the state of Brandenburg) provides up-to-date information on the distribution and condition of the bog soils in the state of Brandenburg. With the aim of providing a peat map related to 2013 extensive, up to now unused data for the distribution of bog soils in Brandenburg has been processed into an overlap-free map and comprehensive database of moor floor profiles. In order to record the current state of the moor soils, soil surveys were carried out again and statistically evaluated at 7,725 sites with sufficient data bases. As a result, thickness loss rates for agricultural bog sites in Brandenburg could be derived. According to the INSPIRE data specification Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0), the contents of the floor map are INSPIRE-compliant. The WMS includes the following layer: — SO.SoilBody.WRB: Contains information about the code list WRB Reference Soil Group (first level of classification according to the World Reference Base for Soil Resources) via the DerivedSoilProfile. — The compliant INSPIRE view service (WMS) Soil (derived from the original data set: moor map of the state of Brandenburg) provides current information on the distribution and condition of peat soils in the State of Brandenburg. With the objective of providing a peatland soil map referring to the year 2013, extensive, previously unused data sets on the distribution of peat soils in Brandenburg were processed into a non-overlapping map and comprehensive database of peat soil profiles. In order to assess the current state of the peat soils, soil surveys were again carried out and statistically evaluated on a representative and random basis at 7,725 sites. As a result, thickness loss rates for agriculturally used peatland sites in Brandenburg could be derived. The content of the soil map is compliant to the INSPIRE data specification for the annex theme Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0). The WMS includes the following layer: — SO.SoilBody.WRB: contains information about the WRB Reference Soil Group (list of possible reference soil groups (i.e. first level of classification of the World Reference Base for Soil Resources).
