Dataset description

The interoperable INSPIRE representation service (WMS) Soil (carbon stocks in the soil of Brandenburg) provides an overview of the carbon reserves up to 0.3 m, 1 m and 2 m depth below the site surface in the state of Brandenburg. The map is based on the legend units of the soil overview map (BÜK300) with corresponding assignment of parametrised surface soil shapes determined by terrain and laboratory tests. For this purpose, the corresponding parameters (such as Corg levels) were statistically derived for the same horizontal-substrate combinations (usually the median value). The sequence of horizontal-substrate combinations of the surface soil shapes with their Corg contents forms the basis for the volume calculation in t/ha. These were classified in levels of 30 t/ha each. According to the INSPIRE data specification Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0), the contents of the soil overview map are INSPIRE-compliant. The WMS includes the following layers: — SO.organicCarbonStock (30 cm): Carbon stocks describe the amount of organic coupe Corg stored in the soil at a depth of 30 cm in t/ha. — SO.organicCarbonStock (100 cm): Carbon stocks describe the amount of organic coupe Corg stored in the soil at a depth of 100 cm in t/ha. — SO.organicCarbonStock (200 cm): Carbon stocks describe the amount of organic coupe Corg stored in the soil at a depth of 200 cm in t/ha. — SO.SoilBody: Demarcated and with respect to certain soil characteristics and/or spatial patterns of homogeneous part of the floor ceiling. — The compliant INSPIRE view service (WMS) Soil provides an overview of the carbon stocks up to 0.3 m, 1 m and 2 m depth below ground level in the state of Brandenburg. The map is based on the legend units of the soil map (BÜK300) with corresponding assignment of parameterised soil forms determined by field and laboratory investigations. For the same horizon-substrate combinations, the corresponding parameters (such as Corg contents) were statistically derived (usually the median value). The sequence of horizon-substrate combinations of the soil forms with their Corg contents formed the basis for the quantity calculation in t/ha. These were classified in steps of 30 t/ha each. The content of the soil map is compliant to the INSPIRE data specification for the annex theme Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0). The WMS includes the following layers: — SO.organicCarbonStock (30 cm): Carbon stock indicates the amount of organic carbon stored in soil up to a depth of 2 m in t/ha (in this case 30 cm). — SO.organicCarbonStock (100 cm): Carbon stock indicates the amount of organic carbon stored in soil up to a depth of 2 m in t/ha (in this case 100 cm). — SO.organicCarbonStock (200 cm): Carbon stock indicates the amount of organic carbon stored in soil up to a depth of 2 m in t/ha (in this case 200 cm). — SO.SoilBody: Part of the soil cover that is delineated and that is homogeneous with regard to certain soil properties and/or spatial patterns.
