Dataset description

The interoperable INSPIRE download service (WMS) Soil (Humus content classes (according to KA5) in the upper soil of Brandenburg) provides an overview of the humus content in the upper soil. The map is based on the legend units of the soil overview map (BÜK300) with assignment of parametrised surface soil shapes determined by terrain and laboratory tests. For this purpose, the corresponding parameters (such as humus content) were statistically derived for the same horizontal-substrate combinations (usually the median value). The humus contents of the horizontal-substrate combinations of surface soil shapes were classified according to the Soil Clinical Carting Instructions, 5th edition, Hannover 2005, Tab. 15. Due to the dominance of agricultural land in Brandenburg, the humus classification for agricultural use was applied nationwide. The service represents the classified values for the upper floor. These are usually the values of the top mineral or bog floor horizons. At different values for the surface soil shapes of the respective legend unit, humus content classes were averaged weighted. According to the INSPIRE data specification Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0), the contents of the floor map are INSPIRE-compliant. The WMS includes the following layers: — SO.organicCarbonContent: Organically bound carbon content, excluding live macro and mesofauna and live plant tissue. — SO.SoilBody: Demarcated and with respect to certain soil characteristics and/or spatial patterns of homogeneous part of the floor ceiling. — The compliant INSPIRE download service (WMS) Soil provides an overview of the organic matter content in the top soil. The map is based on the legend units of the soil map (BÜK300) with corresponding assignment of parameterised soil forms determined by field and laboratory investigations. For the same horizon-substrate combinations, the corresponding parameters (such as organic matter content) were statistically derived (usually the median value). The organic matter content of the horizon-substrate combinations of soil forms was classified according to the Soil Science Mapping Guide, 5th edition, Hanover 2005, Tab. 15. Due to the dominance of agricultural areas in Brandenburg, the organic matter classification for agricultural use was applied area-wide. The map represents the classified values for the topsoil. The content of the soil map is compliant to the INSPIRE data specification for the annex theme Geology (D2.8.III.3_v3.0). The WMS includes the following layers: — SO.organicCarbonContent: Portion of the soil measured as carbon in organic form, excluding living macro and mesofauna and living plant tissue. — SO.SoilBody: Part of the soil cover that is delineated and that is homogeneous with regard to certain soil properties and/or spatial patterns.
