Dataset description

The interoperable INSPIRE representation service (WMS) Soil (Sorption Capacity in the Effective Root Space Brandenburg) provides an overview of the sorption capacity in the effective root space of the soils of Brandenburg. This map is based on the legend units of the soil overview map with corresponding assignment of parameterised surface soil shapes. These represent a soil form society for each legend unit. The individual (area) soil shapes were used with parameters, including the corresponding cation exchange capacity (KAK) values determined by ground and laboratory tests. The same horizontal-substrate combinations were summarised and the corresponding parameters (such as KAK values) were statistically derived. The sequence of horizontal-substrate combinations in the surface soil forms with their KAC values formed the basis for the calculation of the sorption capacity in the effective root space (see Hennings 2000, link rule 2.3). According to the INSPIRE data specification Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0), the contents of the soil overview map are INSPIRE-compliant. The WMS includes the following layers: — SO.sorptionCapacityInRootZoneDepth: The sorption capacity indicates the potential exchange capacity of the soil for cation exchange capacity (CEC) in the effective root space. — SO.sorptionCapacityInRootZoneDepthWithOrganicSurfaceLayer: The sorption capacity indicates the potential exchange capacity of the soil for cation exchange capacity (CEC) in the effective root space, including organic support. — SO.SoilBody: Demarcated and with respect to certain soil characteristics and/or spatial patterns of homogeneous part of the floor ceiling. — The compliant INSPIRE view service (WMS) Soil provides an overview of the adsorption capacity in the effective root zone of the soils in Brandenburg. The map is based on the legend units of the soil map (BÜK300) with corresponding assignment of parameterised soil forms. These represent one soil form society per legend unit. The single soil forms were assigned with parameters, including the corresponding values for cation exchange capacity (CEC), which were determined by field and laboratory investigations. Identical horizon-substrate combinations were summarised and the corresponding parameters (such as CEC) were statistically derived. The sequence of horizon-substrate combinations in the soil forms with their CEC values formed the basis for the calculation of the sorption capacity in the effective root zone (see Hennings 2000, method 2.3). The content of the soil map is compliant to the INSPIRE data specification for the annex theme Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0). The WMS includes the following layers: — SO.sorptionCapacityInRootZoneDepth: Sorption capacity indicates the potential exchange capacity of the soil for cations (cation exchange capacity, CEC) in the effective root zone. — SO.sorptionCapacityInRootZoneDepthWithOrganicSurfaceLayer: Sorption capacity indicates the potential exchange capacity of the soil for cations (cation exchange capacity, CEC) in the effective root zone, including the organic surface layer. — SO.SoilBody: Part of the soil cover that is delineated and that is homogeneous with regard to certain soil properties and/or spatial patterns.
