Dataset description

The Map Service (WMS Group) presents the spatial data from the Saarland landscape program the theme map Climate-Soil Groundwater.: Related erosion suspect areas (> 40 ha) with partially recognizable erosion events are referred to as the focal areas of current soil erosion. The implementation of erosion-reducing measures is a top priority here. In the context of municipal landscape planning, the areas suspected of erosion must be further concretised spatially. Erosion-reducing measures shall primarily be carried out in agricultural focus areas of current soil erosion. The scope and nature of the measures must be adapted to the respective problem situation on site and the operational structures. Measures aimed at reducing soil erosion by water must always improve and maintain the soil structure and thus the water absorption capacity of the soil. This includes measures such as leaving the crop residues on the arable surface, expanding crop rotation and soil-friendly processing methods. At the same time, the erosion-effective slope length can be reduced by parallel linear structures, so that the installation of grassland strips or hedges are central measures for soil protection. In the case of highly erosion-prone soils, the conversion of arable land into permanent grassland may be required as the most effective protection against erosion.
