Dataset description

According to § 30 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG), certain parts of nature and landscape that have a special significance as biotopes are protected by law. Unlike the more well-known nature reserves or national parks, the effectiveness of the legal biotope protection requires no further legal determination or designation. These biotopes are protected by law solely because they belong to a particular biotope type listed in § 30 BNatSchG and in addition § 15 of the Thuringian Nature Conservation Act (ThürNatG).
