Dataset description

When assessing the soil functions according to “Soil Protection 23” of the State Institute for the Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation Baden-Württemberg (2011), only the prevailing soils with a land share above 25 percent are taken into account. Given that the process is mainly based on soil-based parameters and because location factors such as climate and relief are not taken into account, the assessments should not be used for cross-regional or national comparisons.
