Dataset description
The Geological Overview Map (M 500) provides an overview of the geological structure of the subsurface of Baden-Württemberg. The content resolution of the data set or the map refers to a scale range of 1: 400,000 to 1: A total of 43 different, overarching geological units as well as the main tectonic faults of regional importance are presented. The data base of the overview map is the high-resolution geology data from GEOLA (Integrated geoscientific state survey of BW), which are subject to an ongoing update and always represent the current state of knowledge of the geology of BW. With the help of a GIS tool developed at the LGRB for automatic generalisation (AutoGen), the overview map is derived once a year from the current GEOLA data.
