Dataset description

The KSR map for potential soil erosion hazards due to water is based on the “General soil removal equation” (ABAG). This is applied throughout Germany and is documented in DIN 19708. The map describes the local potential erosion hazard regardless of the current land use and the erosive slope length. Linear forms of erosion, such as erosion channels and trenches, are not taken into account in this assessment. The calculation is done by linking soil type (using the K factor as a measure of the erosion susceptibility of a soil type), slope inclination (S factor) and long-term average regenerativeness (R factor). The KSR card for the erosion hazard is available as GRID for Saxony in the 5 m grid.
