Noise mapping in Brandenburg INSPIRE View-Service (WMS-LFU-Laerm)

The INSPIRE View Service includes results of noise mapping in the state of Brandenburg. The service is divided into four group layers: These include: a) the noise protection area and the ambient noise mapping for major airports; B) Strategic noise maps for roads and C) Strategic noise maps for metropolitan areas (Potsdam). Further details on the respective noise mapping can be found in the descriptions of the individual group layers. Directive 2002/49/EC (Environmental Noise Directive) on the assessment and management of environmental noise calls on EU Member States to draw up strategic noise maps for defined study rooms by 30 June 2007 and every five years thereafter. The examination rooms result in the implementation of the EU Directive into German law pursuant to § 47a-f of the Federal Immission Protection Act and the Ordinance on noise mapping (34. BImSchV). For the State of Brandenburg, the investigation area was defined in 2012 by the obligation to map the main roads with a traffic volume of more than 3 million vehicles per year. The investigation area also includes the large airport Berlin-Schönefeld/Berlin Brandenburg as well as the metropolitan area of Potsdam (the mapping of the main railway lines is the responsibility of the Federal Railways Office).
