Dataset description

The normalised/normalised Digital Surface Model (nDOM) corresponds to the difference between Digital Terrain Model (DGM) and Digital Surface Model (DOM). The data set is represented as a map level elevation difference in the WMS Height Information Saxony as a classified raster dataset. Using the material data query, it is possible to determine the concrete value of the object height. In contrast to the DGM, the DOM represents the actual structure on the Earth’s surface. All natural and artificial objects including buildings (including bridge structures), infrastructures (e.g. tracks), vegetation (e.g. trees), temporary objects such as flying objects such as birds or cranes and other objects are depicted. The raster record specifies the heights of the objects at the time of recording. Thus, temporary objects such as construction cranes or flying objects are also recognizable. The normalised DOM is used in particular in environmental and forestry management for the determination of forest status parameters as well as classification according to growth classes and tree height classes. The nDOM remains the basis for the creation of a 3D city model.
