Overview map of Lower Saxony and Bremen 1: 500 000 (WMS Service)

The basis of the scientific contributions to the regional planning programme (LROP) was the digitally implemented soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 200 000 (BUEK200). Based on this nationally uniform map work, a substantial spatial and content differentiation in the form of the BUEK50 was achieved by incorporation of further archive documents and additional site surveys. This is initially offered as a sufficient ground-based planning basis for the regional level. The advantage of this method of further differentiation of an existing map work lies in the consistent comparability of BUEK200 and BUEK50. For each designated area in the BUEK50 there is a description of a typical profile structure, which can be used for further evaluations. The designated soil units of the soil overview map contain information on the structure of the most common soil profile in the area and the horizons that make up the profile and the predominant use of the designated areas, classified by arable, grassland and forest.
