Description: Regional plans may define regionally significant sites for waste management as priority areas, reserved areas and exclusion areas. In priority areas, other spatially significant uses shall be excluded insofar as they are incompatible with the priority functions or uses or objectives of the waste management sites. In reserved areas, other spatially significant uses or measures shall be weighed. In exclusion areas, waste management sites are excluded. Suitable disposal sites must be secured at an early stage as part of regional planning. The cost-effectiveness of waste disposal must be ensured through regional cooperation and optimisation of catchment areas.
