Dataset description

After the end of World War II, about 40 000 t of chemical warfare munitions were dumped in the Baltic Sea under the direction of the Allies. Between 1994 and 1997, the BSH, in cooperation with the Institute for Baltic Sea Research (Warnemünde) and the German Navy, conducted numerous investigations in which the transport routes in the area of the German continental shelf were examined for metal bodies using geophysical measuring methods and an underwater video camera. The IMS (Internet Map Service) processes and bundles the results of the investigations and makes them available.
