Site suitability Surface-oriented geothermal energy

Geothermal heat from up to 400 meters deep is referred to as near-surface geothermal energy. The approval and cost-effectiveness of the use as well as the type of technology used depend on the respective geological conditions and the groundwater conditions. The map provides a first overview of the location conditions and uses for geothermal probes, geothermal heat collectors and groundwater heat pumps. The data set provides a basis for large-scale considerations and does not replace the conduct of detailed investigations.
