Dataset description

The map shows the plant available soil water for the 30-year period 1991-2020. The plant available soil water (WPFL) describes the amount of water a soil can provide for plants. It is therefore an important quality criterion for soil fertility. The characteristic value consists of the usable field capacity in the effective root space and the amount of capillary ascent from groundwater. The WPFL depends on the texture, storage density, humus content, stratification and use of the soil as well as groundwater level.
