Dataset description

Soil is referred to as the weathering layer of mineral and organic substances produced on the Earth’s surface. In addition to air and water, it is the most important livelihood for humans, animals and plants. The soil is an invigorated natural body that contains air and water to varying degrees, and whose formation takes place depending on the source rock, relief, groundwater conditions and climate. It is the volume of turnover for the formation of drainage and influences the division of precipitation into evaporation, surface and underground drainage. The soil conditions have a lasting impact on the water balance of an area. Atlas Table 1.3 is based on the BÜK 1000, which includes a detailed description of each of the 72 legend units, the profile description of a selected guiding floor per legend unit and a short legend. From this, the aggregation and generalisation became the map 1: 2 000 000 derived.
