Central areas are the catchment areas of the central centres defined in the LEP (see object type Central Places). In rural areas, central areas, including the central centre, have a population of at least 35,000 in order to ensure the viability of the facilities in the central location. Depending on the structure of the settlement, the population in the middle area and the offer in the centre may differ. Plan set 2.5.9 LEP 2002 budget areas are defined as interlinking areas of the Centres in the LEP 2002. Due to intensive socio-economic interdependencies, the central areas are important areas of reference for the population, in which a large part of the supra-local life relationships take place in the functional fields of care, work and education.
