Dataset description

The data set contains information on linear obstacles (traffic obstacles) that are relevant for the technical accessibility of forest areas into Saxony. Obstacles to navigation are constantly water-bearing rivers, streams, canals and trenches, above-ground pipelines, small-area rocks, dry trenches and small-area moist sites. Technical traversability means the possibility of using forestry machinery and other forestry technology for existing maintenance and wood harvesting measures, without fixing the fine development path network with methodological measures. For each forest area, the location-dependent passability class, the slope inclination class and the sensitivity class are specified. The transhipment classes B1 (passable) to B5 (not passable) describe the suitability of the ground as a passable base. Sensibility classes S1 (less sensitive) and S2 (sensitive) describe soil sensitivity to traffic-related ecologically effective changes. The data set is a basis for the fine development map, the navigation map and the technical map of Saxony. Detailed information can be found in the directive “Wood Technologies” of the state enterprise Sachsenforst.
