Dataset description

The data series consists of two datasets, which document the total of 164 Tempo-30 zones in the Wuppertaler urban area: On the one hand, the data set ‘Tempo-30 zones Wuppertal (areas)’ with the boundaries of the Tempo-30 zones and, on the other hand, the dataset ‘Tempo-30 zones Wuppertal (signage)’ with the points of the corresponding traffic signs. Both sets of data were produced by the Department of Road and Transport in a concerted action between 08/2008 and 09/2008 by digitising the existing analogue files and plans, in particular the traffic regulations. The digital basic map DGK was used as the basis for the map for the construction of the umbrella spolygons of the Tempo-30 zones and the digitisation of the signage sites. The two data sets are subject to very rare changes, as the potential areas for the designation of Tempo-30 zones have been exhausted for a number of years. Changes to the Tempo-30 zones are initiated by the Road and Transport Department, which communicates such changes to the data-leading department Vermessung, Katasteramt and Geographical Data in a timely manner. There, the datasets are updated with a geo-information system. Since the beginning of 2016, the official basic card ABK has been used as the basis for digitisation. The ESRI-Shapefiles, KML and GeoJSON files provided as Open Data are updated weekly in an automated process.
