Dataset description

The maximum thickness of the Zechstein (base Zechstein to Lower Buntsandstein or until the discordance following in the hanging next, usually at the base of the Oberjura) is about 1 500 m and is reached in the central trench. The thickness distribution map shows that the current thickness of the Zechstein is subject to significant fluctuations. The northwest of the duck beak and the Schillgrund-Hoch are characterised by low-power Zechstein deposits. In the area of salt structures, thicknesses are assumed to be significantly greater than 1 500 m.
