Dataset description

The available maps with point data on “Heat conductivity for geothermal probes” up to 30 kW power and probe lengths of 40 m, 60 m, 80 m or 100 m were developed on the basis of the available drill information in the Drill Database Lower Saxony. The values shown are estimated thermal conductivity based on values from the VDI 4640, own measured values and values of the nationwide product catalogue for the economic application of near-surface geothermal data (ed. Ad-Hoc AG Hydrogeology, 2008). The map shows average thermal conductivity for selected bores. When you click on a hole, an info box with the most important master data of the bore opens. Thermal conductivity of individual layer units can be retrieved by clicking on the link “More information”. For the planned location of a new geothermal probe, the values shown in the vicinity — provided the surface structure is comparable — can give an orientation on the average thermal conductivity with a probe length of 40 m, 60 m, 80 m or 100 m. The data is used for an initial assessment of possible thermal conductivity and does not replace the concrete verification in the context of plant construction on the basis of the local conditions. Further information on legal and technical basics can be found in the “Guide for Geothermal Use in Lower Saxony” (Geobericht 24).
