WFS — Flowing water structure mapping 2008

Assessment of the water structure of all flowing waters in the Free State of Saxony with a catchment area of = 10 square kilometers. The survey was carried out using the on-the-spot procedure. On small flowing waters, the structure for all 100-metre sections according to the carting instructions was recorded in the Federal Republic of Germany’s water structure ¿methods for small and medium-sized flowing waters’ (Länderarbeitsgemeinschaft WASSER (LAWA) (ed.), Berlin, 2000). On large flowing waters, e.g. Neiße, Elbe, United Mulde, sections of the Zwickauer Mulde, the Freiberger Mulde and the White Elster, the structure was collected for 300-metre sections. According to the carting instructions, water structure quality in North Rhine-Westphalia, guidance for the mapping of medium to large flowing waters ​​(LUA leaflets No. 26, Essen, 2001). Mapping took place between 2005 and 2009 (2005/2006 — Lusatian Neiße and parts of the Spree; 2006/2007 — Elbe Hose and United Mulde; 2006/2008 — Freiberger Mulde, Schwarze Elster and parts of the Spree; 2007/2008 — Zwickauer Mulde and Weiße Elster with Saale, 2009 a post mapping of all dry waters at the previous mapping times in Saxony and two previously uncharted WFD-relevant waters.) The shape contains some general parameters for the geographical identification of the water sections, the overall assessment of the water structure and the evaluation for the areas of sole, shore and land. The structure is given in the structure class and in the index valuation (decimal). For large waters, the structure for the areas shore and land is listed separately for the left and right sides of the water. The attribute and structure evaluation is based on the above-mentioned carting instructions used.
