Dataset description

The “Wolfsgebiet i.S.d. Damage Compensation” represent the territories of site-containing wolves with a buffer zone. For this purpose, a 15 km radius is drawn around each detection of these wolves. Thus, the wolf areas cover a much larger area than the actual wolf territory. With the entry into force of the Funding Directive Investment Herdenschutz Wolf (FöRIHW), farmers in the designated wolf areas are required to protect their pasture animals accordingly. In order to be able to claim compensation in the event of damage caused by wolves, adequate and reasonable preventive measures must be taken within one year in the sense of ‘basic protection’. By clicking on a wolf area, the respective year period can be displayed in the map. Further information on the “Grundschutz” can be found in the FöRIHW information sheet.
