Dataset description

The ATOM Feed Download Service for Cycle Routes in Wuppertal provides a dataset for download, which includes the cycle paths signposted in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation (StVO) in the city area of Wuppertal as well as the most important forest or economic routes approved for cycling. It contains a typing for each section of a cycle path and both sides of the road, distinguishing the following categories: Cycle paths, combined walkways and cycle paths, railway cycle paths, pedestrian zones temporarily approved for cycling, as well as forest or economic paths approved for cycling. In addition, the lighting (yes/no) and the percentage slope are indicated for each section. All cycle paths are represented geometrically by the central axes of the associated roads and paths. The first creation of the spatial data on the Wuppertal cycle paths took place until 01/2011 on the basis of the Digital Basic Map DGK on the basis of a CorelDRAW project (Ressort Roads and Transport, as of 09/2010). If necessary, the occasional updates of the database are initiated by the Roads and Transport department for surveying, cadastral office and spatial data and are incorporated into the dataset in a timely manner. Since the beginning of 2016, the official base card ABK has been used as the basis for digitisation. The ESRI shape files, KML and GeoJSON files that the download service accesses as open data under the CC BY 4.0 license are updated weekly in an automated process.
