5G mobile connectivity in autonomous drone flight

The dataset provides information on the mobile connectivity of an autonomous drone depending on the geographical position in a 5G test mobile network near Greding, Bavaria. The data was collected in the FreeRail project in cooperation in the 5G test field of the 5G Connected Mobility project. With the data, it is possible to estimate the drone’s connectivity for different altitudes, configurations of the mobile network with network slices, as well as short and long-haul flights. The FreeRail project is developing a fully automated drone-based system for digitised vegetation control and registration of damage following severe weather events along the Deutsche Bahn route network.
