Dataset description

In the SmartAQnet project funded by the mFUND, an air quality measurement network was set up in the Augsburg area from 04/2017-09/2020. The project pursued the approach to both take data itself and integrate data from external sources. The data includes air quality data from citizen-operated ultra-low-cost sensors to a network of mid-cost sensors from the Fa Grimm to high-precision reference stations. The data is available in the OGC-SensorThings standard (for example, detailed API documentation can be found at https://developers.sensorup.com/docs/) and are freely accessible via the REST API. A dashboard for browsing the database via a graphical interface is also available at https://www.smartaq.net/en/dashboard/#/home. The data set includes in particular: — approx. 60 citizen-operated SDS011 sensors — 9 SDS011 sensors used mobile on cycle routes — approx. 50 EDM80 mid-cost devices developed in the project by Grimm — 6 EDM164 of the company Grimm — 3 Ceilometers — 1 SODAR-RASS — 1 measuring container with a variety of devices — 5 meteorological stations — 3 drones (height profiles) At the end of the project 09/2020 the database covered more than 220 mio. Observations and continues to expand through continuous measurements. Disclaimer: Please note: The air quality assessment is carried out in accordance with the EU Air Quality Directive 2008/50/EC, which in Germany is essentially governed by the 39th Ordinance on the implementation of the Federal Immission Protection Act (Regulation on Air Quality Standards and Emission Ceilings — 39). BImSchV) has been transposed into national law. The measurement data downloaded here cannot be used to assess air quality according to 39. BImSchV. The data provided on this website has been collected for research purposes within the SmartAQnet research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) (funding code: 19F2003). Please note that since the data was collected automatically by various systems and for the most part not validated, the disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability associated with the user license (see Legal Disclosures) must be observed. In particular, we would like to explicitly point out principle-related errors and inaccuracies in the data, since, for example, the sensors used were partly operated by laypersons, deliberately outside the specifications of the manufacturers or were not subjected to calibration. Therefore, data contained should not be regarded as “measurements” in the usual sense. We do not exclude the possibility of errors when importing external measurements or metadata. In case of doubt, refer directly to the referenced source (that may be explicitly suitable for other purposes). In particular, this data collection in itself is not suitable for monitoring or evaluating the quality of outdoor air at the referenced locations.
