Citizens’ budget 2017 — Project ideas

In 2017, the City of Wuppertal, in cooperation with external third parties, provided its own budget of EUR 150,000 for ideas from citizenship for the first time as part of the budget planning. In the so-called “citizens’ budget”, the Wuppertalers submit their own proposals and decide on several evaluation phases themselves, which of them should be implemented. There are few requirements for the ideas: The implementation must not cost more than EUR 50.000 and must be possible within two years, the idea must be within the scope of manoeuvre of the city of Wuppertal and contribute something to the common good. The winning projects are planned into the budget and implemented in cooperation with the idea creators.
