Dataset description
The data set contains the number of commuters to and from Düsseldorf from 2014.
If workers on their way to work have to cross the boundary of the community of residence, they are counted among commuters.
The ‘distance in kilometres’ listed in the tables is derived from the airline distance between the geographical centres of the places of work and residence.
The “Humping people” file contains the following column information:
Place of Origin: Commune from which commuters are commuting to Düsseldorf
Number: Total number of commuting persons
Number of %: percentage of all commuting persons
Female: Total number of commuters
Female: percentage of commuters
Male: Total number of commuters
Male %: percentage of commuters
Distance in kilometers: Airline distance in kilometers
The “Extending Persons” file contains the following column information
Destination: Place to settle in the commuters from Düsseldorf
Number: Total number of commuting persons
Number of %: percentage of all commuting persons
Female: Total number of commuters
Female %: percentage of commuters
Male: Total number of commuters
Male %: percentage of commuters
Distance in kilometers: Airline distance in kilometers
