Development of the population in Düsseldorf 2035 to 2050, dynamic scenario

The data set contains the evolution of the population in Düsseldorf 2035 to 2050, dynamic scenario as published by the Office of Statistics and Elections in the current Demography Report for the 2035 Population Forecast. For some planning processes, it is also necessary to get a long-term impression about the development of a city. Therefore, the following chapter outlines a corridor for a possible development of 2035 by 2050. However, the longer the forecast horizon reaches into the future, the higher the likelihood that external influences will occur that cannot be predicted. These can lead to significant deviations from a forecast. A representation at the district level is therefore dispensed with for the long-term development. Based on the main variant until 2035, two possible scenarios have been developed. In a conservative scenario, it is assumed that no significant new building will take place from 2035 (for example due to lack of space). In the growth scenario, it is assumed that from 2035 on average 1,500 places will be built in residential units in new-build areas and that the migration balance remains at the level of the main variant. In this dynamic scenario, the population of Düsseldorf increases to 712,100 inhabitants by 2041. However, a population decline is estimated for the following years, with a population of 697,300 in 2050.
