Dataset description

Definition: The morphological space is the amount of the difference between the maximum and minimum height of a place over the course of several time steps. It can be used to identify morphologically stable areas that can be considered, for example, as potential areas for construction projects. Data generation: The basis for bathymetric products are gridded bathymetric models, which are created using the Functional Ground Model, a data-based hindcast simulation model, via spatial-time interpolation methods from a database of sea and land surveys of various data types. For each year from 1996 to inclusive 2016, a gridded bathymetric model in 10 m resolution for the German Bay and in addition in 250 m resolution for the Exclusive Economic Zone for the year 1996 is produced. For the German Bay, the morphological space for each grid node is calculated by determining the highest and lowest z-value over 21 years of viewing space from the bathymetric models and by forming the difference zmax-zmin. The maximum span of the water floor height is shown at each point. Since it is an evaluation of several time steps, the morphological space cannot be determined by the Exclusive Economic Zone. Product: 10 m grid of the German Bay, wherein the amount of the morphological space is deposited at each raster node over the period 1996 to 2016. The product is provided in GeoTiff format.
