The Osning Disturbation Zone forms a 200 km long ridge that borders the Lower Saxony Basin in the south and separates it from the Münsterland Basin. Their structure and movement mechanisms are analysed in this thesis on the basis of leaf shift tectonics. Five sub-segments from the Gronau segment in the northwest to the Falkenhagen segment in the southeast can be split out as superordinate structures of the leaf shift zone. Between the individual segments arose as a result of predominantly constricting Tektonik West — East sweeping featherfolds such as the Rothenfelde, the Ochtrup and the Waldhügel saddles as connecting structures. These can be considered as evidence of a north-south-facing palaeostress field during the Upper Cretaceous period.
