The national forest status survey is carried out annually in the nationwide sampling network (16x16 km) and according to a coordinated methodology. In Thuringia, the sample network was condensed to 4x4 km in order to obtain area-representative statements for the main tree species. The aim of the forest status survey is the long-term monitoring of the forest status under the influence of abiotic influences (e.g. climate/weather, air pollutants) and biotic factors (e.g. insect calamities). The annual forest status report for Thuringia can be found at www.tmil.info.
