Dataset description

Blatt Goslar shows a very interesting excerpt of Germany’s geology. In the central part of the map is the Harz, in the north the Harz foreland with Subhercy valley and in the south the Thuringian Basin. The resin is one of the low mountain ranges of variscially folded and shifted paleozoic. Much of the geological units and disturbances strike southwest-north-east. The magmatic intrusive complexes (Brocken-, Ramberg- and Oker-Granite and Bad Harzburger Gabbro) took place in the subcarbon, while the volcanoites at Ilfeld (“Ilfelder Porphyrit” or “Ilfelder Melaphyr”) penetrated in the perm. The resin can be divided into three zones. The Oberharz includes the Clausthaler Kulmfalten-Zone, the Oberharzer Devonsattel and the Acker-Bruchberg-Zone between Osterode and Bad Harzburg. The central resin is formed by the Blankenburg folding zone with the Elbingeröder Complex, the Tanner Grauwacken train and the Sieber-Mulde. The sub-resin includes the Harzgeröder wrinkle zone (Olisthostrom slip compounds) with the Selke and Südharz-Mulde (sliding ceilings) as well as the epimetamorphic of the Wippra zone. It has been cautious in the presentation of disturbances whose frequent occurrence is known, but the course of which is often uncertain. Zechstein sediments surround the resin, especially in its southern or south-west boundary. In the subhercyn sink, Cretaceous sediments are open-minded, which are largely superimposed by quaternary loess and are surrounded by thin bits of Triassic sediments. To the west of the Harz is the northern Leinetal grave with mesozoic sediments (Keuper to Malm) and the elevation of the Rhüden saddle, on whose bunt sandstone formation is based on the Lower Saxon reorganisation of the Bunt sandstone. The southern part of the leaf is occupied by the Trias of the Eichsfeld-Thüringer Basin (Keuper to Buntsandstein), from which the chalk-exit of the Ohmgebirge and the Young Palaeozoic sediments of the Kyffhäuser mountain range stand out with its precambrian crystalline complex. Here too, there are overlays by quaternary curler sediments, predominantly soft-cold-time soluss. In addition to the legend, which informs about the age, genesis and petrography of the represented units, a profile section provides insights into the structure of the subsurface. From north to south, it crosses the subhercy basin, the Harz-Nordrand-Relay, the Harz with the Eckergneis and Brockengranit, the Eichsfeld-Thüringer Basin with the Ohmgebirge and the Eichenberg-Gothaer Grabenzone.
