Dataset description

Green and solar radiation index of traffic routes in Heidelberg and Dresden, which are used by the routing service in the myGrün app to calculate green and shaded walking routes. The routing service is based on the openroute service. The green index describes how much vegetation is present in the surroundings of the respective path segment. The index was derived from OpenStreetMap, Sentinel-2 satellite data (Ludwig et al, 2021) and in Dresden additionally from green volume data from 3D laser scan data (Hecht et al., 2008). Based on the green index, green foot and bike routes can be calculated using the openrouteservice. The solar radiation index describes how much the respective path segment is exposed to solar radiation. The values do not indicate the absolute intensity of the solar radiation, but only a relative index in the range of 0 (smallest irradiation) to 1 (highest irradiation) in the study area. The basis is OpenStreetMap data and a 3D building and vegetation model in Dresden. With the help of this index, shady routes can be calculated using the openrouteservice. # References: Ludwig, C., Lautenbach, S., Schömann, E., Zipf, A.
