The data set contains the locations of defibrillators in the public space of the action “Heart-safe in Düsseldorf”. With the “Heart Safe in Düsseldorf” campaign, the City of Düsseldorf has set itself the goal of providing Düsseldorf with publicly accessible defibrilators. In addition to the “automated external defibrilators” (AED) housed in the administrative buildings, 10 freely accessible AED columns have been located in the urban area since 5 February 2019. A lay defibrillator is a small, compact device that uses software to analyse the heart rhythm and decides whether impulse delivery is necessary. It can be applied by any person, even without prior knowledge. By means of speech instruction, the first aides are guided through the individual steps of the treatment. The AED automatically analyses the heart rhythm of the affected person. Only in the presence of a chamber flicker the function of the pulse triggering is released. The application is therefore absolutely safe for lay people. Upon removal of the device, a notification is immediately sent to the Düsseldorf Fire Department and a hands-free connection to the control centre is established. Thus, the first aide can be given vital assistance by experienced personnel in the control centre, in addition to the language instruction of the AED. The experienced emergency personnel of the fire brigade can explain the right handles on the phone by means of a defined procedure and thus guide them, for example, in the heart pressure massage.
