Dataset description

The dataset contains information on the number of households in the various social spaces in Düsseldorf. Unless otherwise stated, the data refer to 31.12.2016. The complete update of the social spatial structure is available for download on the pages of the Office for Statistics and Elections. The “social spatial division” divides the entire Düsseldorf urban area into 179 smaller spatial units, the layout of which depends on both socio-demographic and housing-structural characteristics. Thus, social spaces represent more people’s immediate living environment than is the case with administrative units such as the 50 districts. The term “social space” can generally be used synonymously with quarters or habitats. Within the city administration, this instrument is used as a basis for reference and planning by almost all specialist offices and departments that focus on social structures in the district. In addition, this room level is suitable for analytical purposes of a wide range of issues. A separate dataset contains geo-information on the social space boundaries of Düsseldorf. The files contain the following column information: District: District number Social area: Number of the social space Total households: Total number of households Households with 1 person: Number of single-person households Households with 2 persons: Number of households with two persons Households with 3 and more persons: Number of households with three or more persons Households with children: Number of households with children Single parent households: Number of households of single parents Notes: Possible deviations of the data presented from other publications are either methodologically conditioned or based on different cut-off dates. The population reference figures from the MigraPro procedure differ slightly from those of the population register for procedural reasons. In general, no account has been taken of the final sum. For this reason, when summing individual data, the final sums may amount to more than or less than 100 %. x = a number cannot be considered for technical reasons or is not useful. Social room 0718, for example, includes the site of the former glassworks in Gerresheim. A new residential area is currently being built here. . = Numeric value is unknown or cannot be given for certain reasons, e.g. technical or confidentiality reasons — = numeric value is exactly zero (nothing available)
