Dataset description

Definition: A person who has more than 200 % of the arithmetic average of the monthly equivalised income of the North Rhine-Westphalian population is considered to be income-rich. The new OECD scale is used to determine equivalised incomes. A person who has more than 200 % of the arithmetic average of the total net assets per capita of the North Rhine-Westphalian population is considered to be wealthy. In order to determine the total net assets per capita, the total net assets of the household are divided by the number of members of the household. Note: In the income and consumption sample, wealthy and income-rich people are under-represented, as households with a monthly net household income of EUR 18,000 or more are not included in the sample. Thus, the wealthy are considered rather than top earners or wealthy. This restriction must be accepted because the sample of income and consumption is the only available source of data that can be used to carry out country-level analyses on the link between income wealth and wealth.
