The data set contains key indicators of the submarkets in the cultural and creative industries in Düsseldorf from 2014 to 2017 from the statistical information on the cultural and creative industries of the Office of Statistics and Elections. Further information can be found in the report. Explanations and Notes Characters in case of missing numbers: X = an indication of numbers cannot be considered for technical reasons or does not make sense — = numerical value exactly zero (nothing exists) . = Numerical value cannot be given for certain, e.g. technical reasons or for confidentiality reasons The data on turnover come from the VAT statistics (pre-registration) of the statistical state offices and the Federal Statistical Office. They include the taxable turnover (excluding VAT) from supplies and services for all companies and self-employed persons, which generate an average annual turnover of EUR 17,500 or more. The information is recorded at the company’s head office. The “Sales” file contains the following column information: Sub-market: Description of the sub-market Year 2014: Revenue in EUR 1.000 in 2014 Year 2015: Revenue in EUR 1.000 in 2015 Year 2016: Revenue in EUR 1.000 in 2016 Year 2017: Revenue in EUR 1.000 in 2017 The information on companies or self-employed persons comes from the VAT statistics (pre-registration). They include all companies and self-employed persons that generate an average annual turnover of EUR 17,500 or more. The information is recorded at the company’s head office. The self-employed_company file contains the following column information: Sub-market: Description of the sub-market Year 2014: Number of self-employed persons/companies in 2014 Year 2015: Number of self-employed persons in 2015 Year 2016: Number of self-employed persons in 2016 Year 2017: Number of self-employed persons in 2017 The core workers describe all taxable self-employed persons who generate an average annual turnover of EUR 17,500 or more, as well as the employees subject to social insurance and employees in the public/non-profit cultural establishment. The “Core Workers” file contains the following column information: Sub-market: Description of the sub-market Year 2014: Number of core workers in 2014 Year 2015: Number of core workers in 2015 Year 2016: Number of core workers in 2016 Year 2017: Number of core workers in 2017
