Legal basis: Landscape protected area § 26 Federal Nature Conservation Act and § 19 Lower Saxony Execution Act to the Federal Nature Conservation Act. Protection intensity: less high. Landscape protected areas are legally binding areas where special protection of nature and landscape is required 1. to maintain, develop or restore the performance and functioning of the natural balance or the regeneration capacity and sustainable usability of natural resources, including the protection of habitats and habitats of certain wild fauna and flora; 2. because of the diversity, peculiarity and beauty or particular cultural historical significance of the landscape; or 3. because of their special importance for recreation. Designated landscape conservation areas (LSG) in the district of Göttingen are: LSG “Beech forests and calcareous grasslands between Dransfeld and Hedemünden” as implementation of the FFH area of the same name No. 170; LSG “Fulda and Fuldaufer;” LSG “Fulda between Wahnhausen and Bonaforth” as the implementation of the FFH area of the same name No 372; LSG “Göttinger Wald” as the implementation of the Habitats Area No 138 of the same name and the implementation of part of the V19 Bird Protection Area; LSG “resin”; LSG “Iberg bei Bad Grund” as the implementation of the FFH area 145 “Iberg”; LSG “Buying Forest” buffer zone for the implementation of part of Habitats Area No 143; “Farehouses in Kaufunger Wald” as a buffer zone; LSG ‘Leine between Friedland and Niedernjesa and Dramme’ as the implementation of the FFH zones of the same name Nos 407 and 454; LSG “Leinebergland” implementing part of the V19 bird sanctuary; LSG “Mausohr-Hagdgebiet Leinholz” as the implementation of the FFH area of the same name No 447; LSG “Pipinsburg”; LSG “Reinhäuser Wald” as the implementation of the Habitats Area No 110 of the same name and the implementation of part of the V19 Bird Protection Area; LSG “Rhumequelle”; LSG “Schwülme und Auschnippe” as the implementation of the FFH area of the same name No 402; LSG “Untereichsfeld” implementing part of the V19 bird sanctuary; LSG ‘Weiher am Kleiner Steinberg’ as the implementation of the Habitats Area of the same name No 408; LSG “Weper, Gladeberg and Aschenburg” as implementation of FFH area No. 132; LSG “Weserbergland-Kkaufunger Wald”; LSG “Wolfsbachtal bei Zorge” as implementation of the FFH area of the same name No. 150. Some habitat types (LRTs), conservation states (EHZ) and reproductive and resting sites (F+R) have been defined for the LSGs, which are part of the respective conservation purpose.
