Dataset description

The data set “NO2 Measuring Data Wuppertal (Passive Collectors) 2006 and 2007” includes the 4-week mean values of the nitrogen dioxide concentration at a total of 34 municipal measuring stations in the Wuppertal city area determined in 2006 and 2007 by the evaluation of passive collectors. The dataset contains 654 readings, with only 18 stations operating in both years. The passive collectors are tubes hung in protective housings filled with adsorber material (“sample collection tubes”) in which the nitrogen dioxide is enriched by natural diffusion over an exposure period of 4 weeks. Each cell in columns “January” to “December” of the table dataset contains a 4-week mean of the nitrogen dioxide concentration in the unit µg/m³ determined by laboratory analysis of a sampling tube. Via the station number in the measurement point column, these measured values can be linked to the location data in the data set “Luftmessstation Wuppertal (Passive Collector)” published separately as Open Data. The starting and end dates of the respective exposure period of the sampling tubes may be taken from the headers 2 to 3 of columns “January” to “December”. Isolated measurement failures are indicated in the table by the value “-9999”. In addition, the table contains two columns (for 2006 and 2007) containing the time-weighted annual averages of all stations for which at least one measured value is available in the respective year. From 2008 onwards, the exposure times of the passive collectors have been roughly adjusted to the calendar months so that the measured values can be interpreted as mean monthly values of the nitrogen dioxide concentration. The 4-week averages from 2006 and 2007 therefore do not fit into the classification of the technical procedure “Wunda/Air Measurement Stations”, in whose database the monthly mean values determined from 2008 are maintained. They were therefore not included in this technical procedure, but are only published as part of the Wuppertal Open Data offer in the form of a tabular PDF file under the CC BY 4.0 license. The dataset is historical and is therefore not continued.
