Openland Biotopes

On the basis of biotope and usage type mapping according to aerial images, the legally protected biotopes of the open land and the populated areas were selectively recorded nationwide in the period 1996-2013. The aim was to collect all legally protected biotopes. Manufacturing process: Delimitation of biotopes by aerial image interpretation, terrain capture, digitalisation; Position accuracy: approx. 10 m; Fit accuracy: tailor-made to biotope and usage types; The mapping is completed. For several years, local updates have been underway, e.g. according to various cartier keys (individual districts, “green band”, FFH areas), but are not yet part of this dataset. Note: According to § 5 of the Thuringian Forest Act, the Landforstanstalt (ThüringenForst AöR) is responsible for forest biotope mapping in Thuringia.
